Summer

Summer is the best time to explore Dharamshala. In the summer season which is from March to June, tourists can indulge in paragliding, water rafting, mountaineering, trekking and some other interesting activities too. The temperature in this particular season ranges between 22 degrees Celcius to 35 degrees Celcius, making the weather pleasant and salubrious. The flowers are in full bloom at this time and make it a fantastic place for nature enthusiasts. From quaint colonial bungalows to beautiful churches and monasteries to sightseeing places to colourful markets, one can easily explore them. Attend the Saka Dawa festival in April month devoted to Lord Buddha. A ten-day opera is organised by the Tibetan Institute of Performing Arts with several cultural performances and folk dances. Tourists with an adventurous bent of mind can head towards Dharmshala in this season as they can enjoy trekking & paragliding, zip-lining, rappelling, camping to cable car riding as some of these may not be operable during winters and monsoon season.

2. Monsoon

Do not plan a vacation in the monsoon season that starts from July to August when the temperature ranges from 18 to 22 degrees celsius as it is not an ideal time to visit as this place receives heavy rainfall. There is a huge chance of landslides during monsoons in Dharmashala. Landslides can lead to damage to vehicles and blocked roads, but if one is planning to visit around this time then be prepared for unwanted delays due to adverse weather conditions one who wants to visit dharmshala during this particular season then one can visit it in August and attend the Dal fair festival that is celebrated on the banks of dal lake. During this festival, one can witness the devotees taking a dip in the holy water of dal lake.

Winter

The Winter season is also the best time that starts from October to February with the temperature ranging between 4 to 7 degrees Celcius. Visiting Dharamshala during this particular time is usually preferred by hardcore adventurers and honeymooners as the place is very chilly. The place receives snowfall between December and February and it is the time when one can capture some of the spectacular views of the snow-capped mountains.
